Personal Space ‘Hula Hoop’ to launch

~ Posted in Lifestyle / Gadgets on August 7th, 2007.

SensoCorp, the world beaters in human psychology technology (PsyTech) announced the launch date for their SpaceHoop product today. SensoCorp hope that the product will attract many buyers with nervous dispositions about their personal space.

The device, due in stores in early September, is essentially a Hula Hoop which can be worn to ‘circumference your waist,’ as the makers state. It provides the wearer with the calming knowledge that it is extremely difficult for others to interfere with their personal space.

The hoop is attached by nylon strings to points on a necklace worn by the user. When asked whether people would look foolish wearing the SpaceHoop, Lord Edgar Von Barronstein commented:

“We thought of this during the design stage. To avoid the embarrassment of wearing such a product, we have ensured that the hoop and nylon attachments are made of translucent material. With that in mind, how could one look out of place?”

With the SpaceHoop marketed towards people with psycological problems, The Technology Herald asked Lord Edgar whether SensoCorp could be accused of preying on the vulnerable:

“Absolutely not. if this were the case, then we could make the same allegations against food producers targeting the hungry. Why should they get all the breaks in business? I think this product is perfectly moral.”

Lord Von Barronstein went on to mention the possibilities for development in the near future.

“The SpaceHoop does not have to stop at those with personal space issues. It could also aid those with Claustrophobia by ensuring that sufferers cannot get into compact spaces where they’ll feel uncomfortable.

Fashion may also play a part in our product. The necklace aspect of the product can be modified to look like a trendy fashion accessory.”

Expect a rush for the SpaceHoop on the launch date. Potential buyers are warned to reserve in advance to avoid disappointment. Queues are expected to be large but not compact.
